Knitting an Applied  I-cord

An applied i-cord is a lovely, neat way to add a narrow edge to any item. It can be used for baby blankets, flannels, table mats, shawl, cowl, edging a scarf or the neck edge of a baby hat.
If the ties of the hat are also an i-cord, you can work it as one continuous piece - left hand tie, neck edging and then right hand tie.

​An i-cord can be used to add detail to a soft toy. I used it for the antlers on my reindeer ornament and the stems of the daffodils. It can also be used for the ties on baby and children's hats. 
You knit an i-cord with 2 double pointed needles. Note: You are NOT knitting in the round. You still knit flat but use both pointed ends of the needle and slide the knitting from one end to the other as you knit each row.
​Instructions are for right handed knitters.
